The Zonta Club of Cebu II expressed community spirit and concern and extend assistance to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) in the BJMP-Mandaue City Female Ward.

In time of the Mandaue City Fiesta celebration, Zontians responded to the call to donate personal protective equipment including 40 pieces of suits, 600 pieces of washable face masks, 100 pieces of surgical masks, 120 pieces of face shields, 200 sets of female hygiene kits, underwears and 25 gallons of 75% ethyl alcohol, assorted crackers and candies.

The Rotary Club of Cebu and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Cebu City Chapter are among the partners in this endeavour.

According to Zonta Club of Cebu II President Marilou Cañizares, the Club saw the need to help protect the women PDLs in the Mandaue City Bureau of Management and Penology from acquiring the COVID-19 infection.

“As the whole community works to stop the spread of the COVID-19, and as this crisis has become a global pandemic, the health or illness of one inmate would have an impact on the health situation within the place of confinement”, Cañizares said.
